FIRE! Help, my house is on fire!!!
No one wants to wake up or arrive home to discover that their house is on fire. Have you ever wondered WHY houses catch on fire? If you have ever seen lighting strike the ground or a tree and the resultant fire then you know what can happen when natural electricity causes a fire outside. But have you ever thought about what happens INSIDE of a house when lighting strikes a house? When your house was built it should have been built with a copper cable that leads from the top of your house all the way to the bottom into the ground. That is there so if your house gets struck by lightening the lightening is attracted to the copper wire. The copper wire then grounds the lightening as it runs through the house and shoots it into the ground where nothing can happen and your house most likely won't catch on fire. Did you know that the odds of your house getting struck by lightening you would get adds of 1 in every 280,000 chances. But that the actual number of homes struck by lightening is actually 1 out of every 200 houses a year. But even with those odds you and your house will most likely be okay. |
